The Ramkavar Liberal Party (RAK) is concerned about the situation in Armenia, especially the recent events on central Baghramyan Avenue in Yerevan and calls on the conflicting sides to start negotiations to find a solution to the problem. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Party said the ongoing protests in the country and the standoff on the avenue are caused by numerous unsolved internal economic and political problems accumulated over time. “Still a year ago, we said that the sharp rise of electricity prices was ungrounded and the activities of the public regulator were not transparent which led to current protests. To find a solution to the situation, the country’s authorities must promptly take actions in order to create an atmosphere of trust towards state institutions and law enforcement agencies, create mechanisms for starting dialogue with citizens and restore public confidence in the electoral system. “Considering the situation in the country and particularly the possible unfavorable developments around Artsakh, we urge the sides to refrain from using force and take concrete steps for the welfare of our citizens,” the Party said in the statement.
