“A girl’s story”: launch of comics
Annually 1400 baby girls are not born in Armenia because of sex-selective abortions. According to the statistics, if the phenomenon of the sex-selective abortions continues at the current pace, Armenia till 2060 can lose over 93.000 women or future moms. Annually till 2060 the number of unborn baby girls can reach over 2000. In Armenia gender imbalances will impact the possibility of forming a family and can become an additional reason for migration. As a result, replacing girls with boys can be a reason that till 2060 the population of the RA will decrease by over 80.000 people. A lot of people, who are worried about this problem, can be a source of sharing it by the language of art. “A girl’s story” comics created by Eiva Arts Foundation and directed to the struggle against sex-selective abortions will be launched on October 10 at 12:00 in the “Aeon” anticafe. “A girl’s story” comics will be distributed free in the public places of Armenia. The comics have been created within “Combating discrimination against fetal sex selection” program funded by the European Union.
