Orchestra of Komische Oper Berlin performed headed by Sergey Smbatyan
On 9 July, 2017 the Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of State Youth Orchestra of Armenia Sergey Smbatyan performed with the Orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin. The concert was organized within the framework of the Choriner Opernsommer festival. It’s a very prestigious festival held in Germany with more than 50 years history. The festival takes place in cloister of Chorin Abbey in Chorin based in 1258. This architectural monument is considered a place where many cultural events take place. The Choriner Opernsommer festival hosts very famous artists and orchestras from all over the world. The program of the concert included the Piano Concerto No. 9 of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Symphony No. 3 of Ludwig van Beethoven. The soloist was famous German pianist Martin Stadtfeld, the fourfold Echo Klassik prize winner. This was the first cooperation of the conductor and the Orchestra. The Komische Oper Berlin is a famous German opera company based in Berlin. It was founded in 1947. The orchestra of the theatre was headed by such ha famous conductors as Otto Klemperer, Václav Neumann, Kurt Masur, Kirill Petrenko, Fabio Luisi, etc. The repertoire of Berlin’s Komische Oper is comprehensive: many international premieres were entrusted to the orchestra.
