No shortage of eggs in country
The RA Ministry of Agriculture reports that there is no shortage of eggs in the country, and in the near future the former price level will be restored in the market. According to the data of the Poultry Farmer Union of Armenia, after the first week of December, the amount of local eggs will grow substantially, with a daily production of 2700 boxes, while the average daily consumption is only 2200 boxes, which will provide the full pre-holiday demand of the population. According to experts' analysis, local production in November has dropped due to the impossibility of importing incubator eggs because of the quarantine declared in 2017. The situation has led to the rise in prices for eggs in the market. According to the results of the monitoring conducted by the RA State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, the average price of egg sold at dominant commercial networks varies from 65 to 70 drams. In comparison with the previous months, a 2-3 drams' increase was observed. For the purpose of filling the gap in the market, industrial egg producers are currently importing eggs from Russia. Parallel to the increase in the amount of the local egg production, prices will stabilize, coming back to the previous level. The RA Ministry of Agriculture, the RA State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition and the Poultry Farmer Union of Armenia conduct monitoring in the market, the RA Ministry of Agriculture and Public Relations Department report.
