“ARMENTEL” BRIBED GOVERNMENT
Support A1+!“ArmenTel” has given a $ 7 million bribe to a representative of Armenian Government in order that the monopoly issue should be delayed“, Arshak Sadoyan, Chair of “National Democratic Bloc” announced. Sadoyan said it wasn’t an allegation adding he had the confession of 2 “ArmenTel” representatives, taped and recorded.
”The future of our children and our Internet is being sold by $ 7 million”, Sadoyan voices alarm and calls upon the society, the political powers and the social organizations to stand and prove that “we are a nation and we must not suffer falsehood”.
According to Sadoyan, a task is set to delay the issue until OTE manages to sell a part of stocks to another company, which will enjoy the monopoly right for more 5 years under the Law on “Foreign Investments”.
Sadoyan also said the bribe bargain hadn’t finally been concluded since “ArmenTel” bribe-givers await for clear guarantees for their order. “Some “ArmenTel” officials have expressed discontent to me saying Armenian officials take the money but don’t do the job”, Sadoyan says.
Mr. Sadoyan said “ArmenTel” representatives wait for the job to be done, then to finalize the bribe bargain. According to Sadoyan, the bribe won’t be in the form of money, it will be in stocks in other companies.
Arshak Sadoyan cited the Constitutional Court decision in 1999, under which “ArmenTel” was to be deprived of monopoly beginning from March 5, 2003 while “ArmenTel” possesses IP telephone communication as a monopoly status, which provides profit of $ 18-20 million to the sphere.
Sadoyan called people to assemble near the Government building on Thursday at 11:00 AM for a protest action. He also appealed to Municipality to sanction the meeting.
We asked Sadoyan if he was going to appeal to Anti-corruption Committee or Corruption Department of Office of Prosecutor with the demand to institute a bribe case.
”I also apply to Bagrat Esayan, Presidential Councilor on Corruption and all those who fight against corruption. I appeal to ARF, too. Prevent it, don’t let people of unknown sexual orientation sell the future of our generations!”, Sadoyan answered.
