RUSSIAN RAILWAY HEAD VISITING YEREVAN

Economy

Gennady Fadeyev, the head of Russian Russia Railways state-owned company, told journalists upon his arrival in Yerevan he had come in Armenia with a number of proposals. He pointed out the need of establishing Russian-Armenian joint company. He advised to “open doors especially before Georgia”.

He said Armenia remained blockaded: the country had neither sea nor railway. The only road between Armenia and Russia is through Ukraine. Cargo transportation through Ukraine three times more expensive and takes a week, Fadeyev said.

He thinks the shortest way to Armenia lies through Abkhazia.

Fadeyev is hoping to establish real ties during his Yerevan meetings. He says the first step has already made by Russian side and now Armenia should respond with a return step.
