The head of the RA National Statistics Service Stepan Mnatsakanyan was the main reporter about the index of consumer prices. Mnatsakanyan was elected the main reporter as the processing of the methodology of the index of consumer prices and their calculation is carried out by the National Statistics Service.
According to Mr. Mnatsakanyan, 400 types of goods have been included into their investigations. The index of consumer prices does not represent the overall rate of the inflation as it represents the change of the prices of the consumer goods bought by private houses.
Stepan Mnatsakanyan was also unable to answer several difficult questions, for example, how much the RA consumer basket is. At present the consumer basket is calculated with a new methodology. «It used to be 23 thousand AMD, but now it has increased», this was his answer.
The hearings about the inflation did not come up to the deputies' expectations. They did not get clear-cut answers to their questions. Tatoul Manaseryan told the journalists he will make an offer to organize new hearings. He mentioned that it is wrong to organize hearings about inflation as the latter is the result of the economic polity.
According to him, it would be wrong to carry out the investigations with the methodology of the Currency International Fund as «Many countries have gone bankrupt because of the CIF models».
Today the President of the RA Central Bank will also answer the questions of the deputies.
