Today, 830 people, gone through 1915 Genocide, live in Armenia. In 1995 they were 4600… From year to year their number is dwindling. Those underwent the horror of April 24 have to suffer years of hardship, as Armenian government doesn’t provide any support to them.

In 1995, according to the edict of the then president Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the citizens born in Western Armenia before 1915, had been given some advantages, which are free using of transport within towns and medical services. 50-persent increase in pensions has been included as well. On April 8, 1998, on the second day after newly elected president Robert Kocharyan had taken an oath, Genocide Museum Director Laurenti Barsegyan addressed the ruler of the country with a letter. He reminded the president about bad living conditions of the people, who survived the Genocide, and urged him to issue an edict, supporting them.

As far the letter remains without any response…
