ON THE EVE OF SEPTEMBER 1
Support A1+!Knowledge Day is to be marked Sunday in a number of Yerevan’s school. High-ranking officials are expected to attend the event.
September 1 is the first day of lessons to be resumed after summer holidays. Schoolchildren are waiting for this day impatiently. It doesn’t apply to their parents, who these days are doing the shopping to provide their children with attributes necessary to attend school including clothes, writing supplies and manuals. Each school attendee is in need of estimated minimum 100 USD. Every ten-grader is required to pay 7,000 drams to be given due manuals. Besides, such stuff as chalk or broom should be purchased at pupils’ expense. In addition, a part of premises repair expenses as well should be borne by schoolchildren parents.
Each school is in need of minimum 100, 000 drams annually. State budget isn’t able to allocate such an amount to schools.
