CONCLUSIONS ON ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS

4 members of the examining board on Mathematics refused to work at the middle of the examination session. The Minister doesn’t regard the fact an extraordinary incident saying: “It was noted in their application to me they don’t agree to some criteria of appraisal. The Chair of the Board says they worked bad” .
In the course of the examinations the Minister decided the university entrants won’t take written exams by the present manuals for entering universities . The university entrants learn comma by comma the texts in Armenian and English, he says. Beginning from the next year those possessing medals will be deprived of their privileges .
As a result, prestige for the faculties of law and economy will reduce next year. 80% of medal possessors appealed to other faculties this year. 4300 university entrants entered state institutes of higher education. Only 2285 out of them will study in a non-paying system. Students of a paying system must settle studies payment by September 15 or else will be deprived of the chance to study. Additional entering examinations won’t held for those places . For the children of perished fighters 40 additional places had been allocated , the Minister says.
While Levon Mkrtchyan was interviewing with journalists, a group of parents and university entrants was waiting for him outside. They wanted to know why a someone entered the Psychology faculty of Yerevan State University having 44 points while another one with 51 didn’t .
