NEW LAW PROPOSAL TO BE SUBMITTED FOR ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT CONSIDERATION

New propaganda campaign started all over Armenia’s territory in a bid to protect sick people rights. The campaign aims to force the National Assembly to adopt the Law on sick people rights protection.

Consumer’s National Association has already worked out the draft law with U.S. International Development Agency’s financial assistance. The Association members are convinced the bill is to be proposed for the National Assembly consideration soon. For that purpose they have had many meetings with the Speaker and members of the National Assembly.

The idea to create the Sick People Rights Defence Law conceived after The Association has received numerous complaints about the situation in public health care area. The survey held by the Association showed that 98,4 of the cases of consumer’s rights violation are due to their unawareness of consumer-related laws. To keep people in touch with their rights the Association embarked on consumers’ awareness enhancement campaign. So far, the campaign is being run in Yerevan and Armenian provinces of Ararat and Shirak. It will be the first time in CIS record, such kind of law would be discussed and maybe approved. Association is also going to struggle against the import in the country of genetically-modified food, which can have irreparable side-effect on Armenia scanty population.
