Armenian President Robert Kocharyan issued an edict Friday awarding medals to a number of Defence, Interior Affair and National Security Ministries’ employees on the occasion of Armenia’s Independence 11th anniversary.

Composer Vladilen Balyan, movie director Atom Egoyan, the head of Shirak province’s Culture Department Hasmik Kirakosyan, philanthropist Anush Matevosyan, “Sayat Nova” musical group manager Tovmas Poghosyan and Ajaryan’s Languages Institute lecturer Ph.Dr. Artem Sargsyan were also given Movses Khorenatsi medals for their contribution to the national culture.
