LET'S WAIT A BIT
Support A1+!Ayb-Fe daily newspaper released Saturday the A1+ TV Company staff’s request for political asylum to be sent to foreign embassies in Armenia. The A1+ personnel take this step as the last resort because it is already obvious that the republic authorities make every effort to suspend tender for broadcasting license in order to bar the company from highlighting presidential and later parliamentary election.
The A1+ president Mesrop Movsessyan is answering the questions concerning the A1+ employees’ request.
- At what stage the A1+ staff’s decision is?
M.M. The shit of paper with the employees’ signatures is lying on my table now and evoking serious speculation. I respect their rights, share their sentiments and understand the reason of such a step but find it premature to seek political asylum. Within two days, I met with all members of the staff and urged them not to hurry into making ultimate decision. Still, they have much to do in our country. It’s not a good idea to leave people in their struggle for democracy. We were always with people serving their interests.
- Urging the company employees not to hurry, did you determine for yourself the deadline of this pendency?
M.M. I think, we should wait for the tender, as I’m sure many things are to change in the country soon.
- Any way, what will be the fate of the staff decision?
M.M. I suggest to postpone this issue discussion for a while. In case of necessity we’ll discuss the matter. I repeat again that we work for people, not for the authorities. And any power is transient.
