AGAIN DELAYED…

Social

The Economic Court delayed discussion of the claim of 5 TV Companies against TV and Radio National Committee for an extra week. This session, dragging out “A1+”’s return to broadcasting, will probably be over after the second round of the presidential elections. This time TV stations gave occasion to delay and Committee didn’t miss its chance to postpone it at the pre-election mess.

Today the tender packages of CNN, Yerevan-TV, TV-5, ArmenAkob and Dar-21were to be read out in the Economic Court. Court wanted to make sure that those packages really contained terms which 2-month-long breach could cause nonsensical situations. Making public the packages would show whether the demands of the 5 stations were honest or not. As it is known, 5 TV Companies demanded to given them a chance to amend their tender proposals as the tender was postponed for 2 months but…

The advocates of 5 TV Companies Ara Shahbazyan and Karen Mejlumyan announced in the Court the stations don’t want to make public the tender proposals. Instead they suggest the Committee to meet half-ways.

The conditions are the following: Committee gives back the packages, they are amended within 7 days. In 10 days the tender winner is made public . The only news of the truce suggestion is that 5 stations agree to both “A1+” and “Noyan Tapan” to be given a chance to amend their proposals.

Truce proposal was voiced at the Court that didn’t differ from the claim statement. It is not clear what the stations cede.

A month ago Committee held a sitting and refused request on giving back the packages. This Court session was fabricated because of that refusal. It was enough to remember what the debate subject was to reply to the proposal. But Suren Petrossyan, Committee representative in the Court, got the pass of 5 stations and asked for time to discuss it. Judge Khundrakyan let a week for Committee to decide whether to compromise or not.

Session will continue on February 28 .One can forecast session won’t be over that day , either, as the preliminary results of the second round for presidential elections will be known on March 6.
