Support A1+!Hundreds of people were arrested under the pretext of participation in the February 21 rally and the peaceful march after. Some of them were fined, others administratively detained
“It’s terror against own people” , Hrayr Melkonyan, having been subjected to amenability, 15 days.
Other people, Romik Mkhitaryan, Chairman of Shengavit territorial organisation for “Republic” Party and chief of headquarters for Stepan Demirchyan, Jora Sapeyan, Chairman of Talin organisation for “Republic” Party, Valdimir Arakelyan, Commander of Tigran Mets detachment, Co-Chair of “Tigran Mets” social organisation, who had participated in the unsanctioned rallies and marches, as if disturbed `order`, took part in the conference. These people and many of those arrested are participants of liberation war.
According to Vladimir Arakelyan, the illegal arrests aim 2 objects:
1. To establish fear atmosphere and suppress people’s voice of protest through it.
2. To create illusion of power, strength and situation control.
“Because of violence facts people finally made sure Kocharyan’s management are the opponent of people and not the political figures of Opposition’” , conference participants announced. They substantiated their statement by facts: people having nothing to do with Opposition were arrested because of taking part in the peaceful march.
Conference participators, i.e. those arrested illegally, will demand judges to account for their violated rights. “We will bring an action against all the judges and law-enforcement bodies, who imprisoned us. We will appeal to European Court and demand for legal, moral and material compensation” , they say.
Newly-established “February 22” social organisation will occupied with it.
