TRIAL AGAINST TV AND RADIO COMMITTEE OVER

5 TV Companies against TV and Radio National Committee trial was over in the Economic Court today. Suit of “ArmenAkob”, “Yerevan”, “CNN”, TV-5 and “Dar 21” TV Companies was refused.

Those stations demanded Committee to give back their tender packages in closed and to fix 7 days to amend and return them. Stations substantiated their demand this way - tender was postponed once, terms for investment obligations in packages were infringed and it is necessary to amend them .

It took Court a month to make a decision on that issue. Trial had been postponed for 3 times. In today’s session Judge Khundrakyan totally refused the demand of 5 TV Companies.

Court verdict can be appealed against before Appeal Court within 15 days. Karen Mejlumyan, the representative of “ArmenAkob”, “Yerevan”, “CNN”, TV-5, “Dar-21”, is not yet ready to answer whether they will dispute against the verdict or not.

The issue on appeal would be more clear if this trial wasn’t somehow bound with “A1+”. The sooner the tender takes place, the sooner “A1+” will be given a chance to get a broadcasting licence. The trials aim to hamper “A1+”.

”ArmenAkob”, “Yerevan”, “CNN”, TV-5, “Dar-21” TV Companies function without licence. They can produce an application before Appeal Court and prolong their non-licence activity for extra 45 days.

If so, the tender can take place in the second decade of May, 7 months later the fixed date. At best. No one can guarantee that as a result of the ordinary suit of TV and Radio Committee the tender won’t be postponed.

Representatives of 5 TV Companies are sure through court suits tender can endlessly be dragged out if wish .
