REFUGEES AND “GOOD SWALLOW”

Social

The trial of the refugees, who temporarily reside in “Good Swallow” holiday cottage, has today continued in the First Instance Court of Kentron, Nork-Marash Communes.

“Do you want to be sent on your way from “Good Swallow” sooner?” , Judge Dalayan said in response to the complainants, who voiced dissatisfaction that the trial was being dragged out.

22 refugees live there. They have appealed to Gagik Eganyan, Head of Directorate for Migration and Refugees, with request for temporary dwellings. But he has ignored their demand, reasoning in written that he can’t provide them with houses since no flats by the state budget were built in Armenia during the last 10 years. Under his words, the contract was concluded with a purchaser and the Ministry of State Property Management, which was to provide them with flats within 2 years. So, Directorate of Migration and Refugees doesn’t assume responsibilities to allow houses to them, Eganyan says.

The trial was postponed till June 13.
