At the period of the parliamentary official campaign, April 21 to May 23, Yerevan Press Club conducted a political monitoring for election coverage. 4 national, 3 local TV Companies, a radio-company and 10 newspapers were monitored.

During the press conference in Journalists’ House YPC expert Mesrop Harutyunyan told that some law breaches were fixed in the course of the campaign . E.g, ALM TV Company periodically embarrassed TV watchers by using “Pre-election Political Program” or just a “Political Program” lines instead of “Political Advertisement” or “Pre-election Campaign Program”.

Monitoring showed that the Public TV Company of Armenia unlike the presidential elections 2 months ago, was more balanced, trying not to display preference to any of blocs or parties.

”Prometevs” and “Armenia” TV Companies acted in other way. They have allocated much more airtime to pro-government parties in news and analytic programs .

Monitoring also showed thatparties undervalue not only newspapers but also the Public Radio – parties didn’t order for political advertising to these Media .
