SYSTEM OF INDIVIDUAL CODES TO BE INTRODUCED
Support A1+!The press conference of Social Welfare Minister Razmik Martirosyan on application of the individual codes, has taken place today.
Some of Ministry workers were given individual codes. Martirosyan introduced the system of individual codes, saying necessity thereof in Armenia is dictated by efficiency of how social reforms are conducted. Experience of other countries, Denmark, Ireland, etc, was studied.
The system of individual codes is regulated by the appropriate Law. Under it, codes will be put into force from July 1, 2004, and people not having them won’t be given to salaries, grants and pensions.
Minister informed that issue is often labelled as a “mystique” one. But he says codes system bears no relation to it. As to the “chips”, he said no one is going to introduce them in Armenia, and it is from fantasy sphere. Code application is channelled into solution to some problems.
Martirosyan told that the issue was being discussed in Church, and he couldn’t say if there would be a negative attitude to the whole project. It would be good if there was a clergy representative in Parliament to express the standpoint, he added.
He said he is responsible for the program irrespective of his being a minister or not. He also stated he is ready for any debate and discussion.
