COMPETING TV COMPANIES PENDING FOR COMMISSION DECISION
Support A1+!Armenian Radio and Television Commission unveiled the proposal packages of Armenia and A1+ TV companies aspiring to 25 UHF. The Armenia is now broadcasting on this frequency while A1+ is deprived from air for more than a year.
Contesting companies were given 30 minutes each to present their programs and 15 minutes for answering questions.
After presenting their proposal package, Armenia’s representatives were questioned about the channel’s scandalous “Bernard Show” program. Bagrat Sargssyan, who represented the company authorities at this competition said though many are unhappy about the program, it enjoys widespread popularity. And what about criticism of Armenian language distortion in the show, the problem is to be solved soon, Sargssyan said.
The A1+ proposal package was presented by journalist Diana Markossyan and producer Susan Ohanjanyan. Introducing a clearly worded program they stressed the proposals’ feasibility saying they would be easily put into reality and expressed confidence that A1+ would immediately regain its leading role in television market.
“How can you explain that amount of $100 thousand has been mentioned in your previous proposal while this time it is sum of $5 million”, the commission put the question to A1+ representatives.
“Preparing package for previous tender, we couldn’t presume that the commission will attach so much significance to financial aspect. This time, taking into account this circumstance, the company find necessary means”, Susan Ohanjanyan said.
There was one more frequency at today’s competition – 32 UHF. But unlike 25 UHF, this frequency was uncontested. The only 25-UHF aspirant was Charentsavan’s Lusalik TV Company, which is currently broadcasting on this frequency. The company promised to develop the company for coming 7 years.
104.1 MHz radio frequency was also a contested subject. “Shant” company and “Asparez” radio club are competing for it. At present, “Shant” is broadcasting on it.
The commission is to announce its decision on June 11.
