ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT’S DECISIONS

Social

Armenian government made a series of decisions concerning social security on Thursday at its regular session.

One of the decisions is related to disability benefits. Until now, disability benefits payments were made with some restrictions stipulated in current regulations: the payment was equal to an average salary but must not exceed 1,600 drams per day. Today’s decision lifted this restriction.

Those citizens who earned 100,000-dram salary before becoming disabled now will be paid a 100-percent benefit. In case of a higher salary, 30% of it is to be added.

The next decision is related to funeral payments, particularly, in the event of death of the citizens not reached pension age. Before the decision the benefit was up to 3,000 drams. Under today’s decision to be enforced from October 1, 2003 it makes 25,000 drams.

Newborn baby benefit that made 5,900 drams surged to 35,000 drams. The government also made amendments to State Pensions Law. Pensioners’ death benefit will reach 75,000 drams instead of 45,000 in the past.
