ASALA HAS NOTHING IN COMMON WITH TERRORISM
Support A1+!A press conference was convened today in “Nemesis” organisation headquarter as the reply to the article published in “Aravot” newspaper, where Armenian Liberation Army’s activity (ASALA) was considered as terrorism.
Vazgen Petrosyan, the “Nemesis” leader, said the ASALA and the IRA are the only organisations of this type around the globe, which in the wake of September 11 haven’t been included in well-known list of the terrorist organisations. “Americans make difference between liberation struggle and terrorism”, Petrosyan said.
In his words, terrorist actions directed against Turkish diplomats were performed to raise Armenians’ honour and to save Armenian culture centres in Western Turkey.
“After establishing the Armenian Third Republic, ASALA hasn’t done such kind of activity able to damage our sovereignty”, the ASALA activists insist.
In their words, the organisation’s strategy has changed. They insist their efforts are focused rather on building than on armed struggle. They say they intend to promote economic, moral and political development of the country.
