MESROP MOVSESSYAN: AMALYAN SHOULD CONFESS COMMISSION'S DECISIONS ARE POLITICAL
Support A1+!“Neither A1+ company program’s financial justification nor its plan for own production inspires trust”, Grigor Amalyan, the head of Radio and Television National Commission, told “Hayots Ashkhar” newspaper’s correspondent before looking through the tender proposals submitted for the commission consideration and immediately after presentation the proposals by contesting companies.
President of A1+ Company Mesrop Movsessyan comments on Grigor Amalyan’s statement.
- Mr. Movsessyan, Grigor Amalyan made public his conclusion without getting familiar with the package submitted by the company. What can you say about his premature judgement?
- I find nothing surprising in his words and nothing new in his attitude toward the company, as he is a person who is merely carrying out a political decision. Amalyan is now in embarrassing situation, but he has voluntarily taken this role. However, I would like Amalyan to have courage not to mar A1+’s good reputation established as a result of long years of work. It would be better if he confess that he is absolutely powerless to solve this issue. Political forces as well as the whole community is unhappy about television field, which has been spoiled with his hands. Amalyan is considered a notorious figure that has made considerable “contribution” to that sinister deal. He’ll suffer consequences that are still ahead.
- Mr. Movsessyan, didn’t Amalyan’s judgement remind you of his deputy Shamiram Aghabekyan’s inference made yet at the tender for 37 UHF?
- Yes. But I wouldn’t like Amalyan to become similar to Shamiram Aghabekyan, who being absolutely incompetent to judge on television-related issues gives herself a right to voice her disapproval of out-of-favour channel displaying her subjective attitude toward it. She not ought to like the channel. The only thing she ought to do at her post is to keep television field clean. I hope favouritism and partiality will come to an end soon. I think it is not late to save the republic’s reputation and shield television area from silly troubles.
- Does it mean that the commission decision is already clear to you?
- There is nothing clear to me. I hope they’ll understand, on further reflection, that they were completely mistaken. What about Amalyan’s distrust, it should be reminded him that once A1+ enjoyed high rating won thanks to its tireless work but not someone’s money. It is Amalyan who brought into vogue a tendency to work by using somebody’s money. This tendency is gradually destroying television field. It shouldn’t be forgotten that A1+ has proven to be one of the best for 13 years of its functioning. And nobody cares about Amalyan’s private opinion. It would be better if he announce publicly that the commission decisions are political.
