ENCYCLOPEDIA AGAINST “ARAVOT”
Support A1+!Today the First Instance Court of Kentron and Nork Marash Communes heard Encyclopedia Director Hovhanness Ayvazyan’s claim against “Aravot” Daily journalist Satik Seyranyan. According to the complainant, articles with false information, offence and libel addressed to Encyclopedia and the director in person, were published in NN 165 and 166 issues.
”Aravot” editorial board has received the response letter of Mr Ayvazyan to the articles, which was published in N 169.
In the Court the complainant demanded “Aravot” correspondent to ask his pardon. However, the respondent advocate Gavorg Minasyan voiced dissatisfaction to it and wondered what legal norm the plaintiff was guided by, demanding for pardon since the newspaper had already published his letter.
But the publication didn’t satisfy the plaintiff. According to him, publishing the letter Satik Sayranyan had later written she possessed other facts she would introduce to the public. Hovhanness Ayvazyan demanded “Aravot” correspondent to publish a new article, refuting the facts in the previous materials.
Judge Pargev Ohanyan returned the Encyclopedia Director the claim informing that he could appeal against the Court decision in the Review Court.
