Imbroglio over infected drinking water supplied through Armenian water pipeline has already reached a critical point. Armenian Prosecutor’s Office has launched legal action against Water Supply Office’s authorities.

Although their plentiful assurances that water is already fit for use the source of infection is not discovered yet.

Final conclusion in the problem is to be made within coming two days upon completion of various laboratory researches.

Relevant works are being conducted to find out the exact section of the pipeline, where the breakdown occurred. “The source of infection is likely located at Arzni basin”, Water Supply Department official Gagik Martirossyan says.

The breakdown caused by sewer clogged with wastes of Arzni’s chicken farm. “This is one but not the only possible cause. When the investigation comes to an end and all causes of the breakdown are discovered, those responsible for the happening will be named”, Mrtirossyan says.

He insists that water is already chlorinated as much as possible and doesn’t pose any threat to human health. However, the official said not a word about side effect of using overchlorated water such as allergy and other health disorders.

The community obsessed with the accident is also concerned about the issue: how can be solved the compensation problem. “I think citizens should be exempt from paying for water supplied within a period of time when it was not fit for use. What decision will make the company – this is a separate issue”, Gagik Martirossyan said expressing his own opinion instead of official.
