PROSECUTION PROPOSES SENTENCES FOR TIGRAN NAGHDALYAN MURDER TRIAL DEFENDANTS
Support A1+!Prosecution side in Tigran Naghdalyan's murder trial delivered its final speech today. Not a word has been changed by prosecutors in their indictment since preliminary inquiry phase. It means they have found no new circumstances clarifying the case to add them in their speech for three months of trial. There was no room in their speech for numerous contradictions that have continuously emerged throughout the period of court hearings.
The prosecution demanded to sentence Armen Sargssyan accused of the crime masterminding to15 years in jail.
The same punishment was demanded for John Harutyunyan, a key perpetrator of assassination.
The prosecutors demanded 12-year imprisonment for Harutyunyan’s associate Felix Arustamyan for implication in the crime and 11 years for Gegham Shahbazyan who has hired the perpetrators. They called on the court to display clemency toward Hovhannes Harutyunyan and Grigor Petrossyan for their help in tracking down the criminal group proposing 7-year term in prison for them instead of the 8-year penalty carried by the count of complicity in crime, which the defendants are charged with.
Lyova Harutyunyan, who has initially thought out and ordered the assassination to Gegham Shahbazyan giving the latter 30 thousand USD for that and withdrew his order later, should be given just a 1-year term in jail, according to the prosecution proposal. Taking into account that Lyova has already served his term while being kept in pretrial detention facilities for investigation period and then in solitary confinement throughout the trial, the prosecutors suggested releasing him right from the courtroom.
Other defendants tried as accomplices to the crime should be sentenced to 1-year imprisonment, they say.
Victim Tigran Naghdalyan’s sister, Karine Naghdalyan, is due to make her accusatory speech on November 10. The defense attorneys’ speeches are scheduled for the same day.
