”The statistics in Armenia is up to the international standards”, Armenian Finance and Economy Minister Vardan Khachatryan told the journalists this.

Armenia has become the 54th country achieved membership to the Special Standard of Information Spreading of International Monetary Fund.

”What does Armenia gain?- data reliability. We gain, too, as we implement programs here”, IMF representative to Armenia James McHugh says. IMD approved SSIS in 1996, aiming to introduce the public thorough statistics. member states are obliged to meet the requested criteria.

”Any deviation may be at the bottom of remaining off the system”, Stepan Mnatsakanyan, head of National Statistics Service, informed.

According to him, membership to SSIS is a notable achievement. ”It wasn’t so easy. Much work and time was needed”. He says the data of population census in Armenia meet the international demands.

By the state officials word, statistical data in Armenia have been worked in correspondence with the international methods up till now.

The final data of the population census held in 2001 October will be published in 20 days. They will be inserted in 12 volumes.
