PROTEST ERUPTS IN TSALKA, GEORGIA
Support A1+!Hundreds residents of Georgian province of Tsalka gathered outside the local government’s building demanding the province governor Eldar Khvistiani’s resignation.
Fighting broke out during the protest action. Khvistiani was injured in the fighting.
Georgian 2nd state channel reports the rally was staged by MP from Tsalka Hayk Meltonyan. The same source reports that only Armenians have taken part in the rally.
Hayk Meltonyan, in turn, says the demonstration hasn’t been organized – it has broken out spontaneously because of deterioration of the situation in the province while Khvistiani staying in office.
The MP also assures that Greeks, Azeri and Georgians living in Tsalka participated in the action as well.
Reacting to the incident, Armenian organizations from Georgian Samkhe-Javakh and Kwemo Kartli have come up with statements expressing their concern about so much fuss made by Georgian media outlets, A-Info news agency reports.
