SITUATION IN TSALKA IS CALM

Social

As it was reported earlier, an investigation was launched into the clashes broken out on May 9 between Armenian and Adzharian residents of Georgian town of Tsalka.

A-Info news agency reports Prosecutor Office’s officials said the wrongdoers must be tracked down and prosecuted.

The agency says the situation in Tsalka is calm, but Adzharians are persistent in demanding Armenians to be disarmed by Georgian military forces.

Tsalka’s member of Georgian Parliament Hayk Meltonyan says Armenians have no guns and denounced the allegation as another provocation from Adzharian side. He expressed hope that Georgian authorities would refrain from sending troops in Tsalka and making the situation tenser.
