ARMENIAN EU MEMBERSHIP DEPENDS ON ITS CITIZENS

Social

European Integration organization chair Karen Bekaryan said Wednesday the organization would implement a number of democracy-promoting programs with German Friedrich Ebert Foundation assistance.

He said the organization intended to conduct surveys to know public opinion about struggle against corruption.

“We will keep Armenia’s population in touch with 20 European media outlets’ coverage of South Caucasus events through Internet as part of the programs”, Bekaryan said.

Coordinator of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation South Caucasus regional office Gunter Fichtner, in turn, said Europe is interested in Armenian EU membership. “Success of that process depends on each citizen of your country, but not on international institutions’ stance”, he said.
