AGAIN TRUMPING UP CHARGES?

During a month the participants of the action for “Freedom for Political Prisoners!” gathered 7777 signatures and introduced them to General Prosecutor attached with a proper application. General Office of Prosecutor responded that the application had been discussed.

The letter by Samvel Manukyan, head of Department for Control over Legality of Investigation of Office of Prosecutor, says: “No person mentioned in your list is criminally persecuted for expressing his political rights and especially convictions. Those people are accused under concrete articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia”.

”We don’t support those having used foul language. We back up people who appeared in jails after participating in rallies”, Gayane Markosyan, Chair of “Free Rostrum of Civil Initiatives” social organization said during the press conference in Journalists’ House.

The representatives of social organizations are concerned about Lavrenti Kirakosyan. He is accused of large-scaled illegal dealing with drugs. Drug was found while searching the house of Lavreni Kirakosyan for the third time.

Lavreni Kirakosyan appealed to the European Court of Human Rights for the administrative arrest he suffered for participation in rallies.

During the press conference names of persons still imprisoned were read out – Tigran Ter-Margaryan, Hamlet Mkrtchayn, Karen Margaryan, Martin Ghazaryan, Edgar Araqelyan and Vagharshak Harutyunyan.
