VARDANYAN HOPES TO STOP ARMENIANS’ MIGRATION FROM ADZHARIA
Support A1+!Grigor Vardanyan was recently elected a chair of Veratsenund /revival/, Adzharian Armenians’ union.
Among his main objectives he outlined were to figure out the exact number of Armenians living in Adzharia and to make Adzharian-Armenians’ ties with other countries’ Armenian communities closer. Besides, Vardanyan said he will try to prevent Armenians from leaving Adzharia.
In 1979, Armenian community in Adzharia was estimated to have16900 people while in 2002 the number of Armenians living there was 8800, as official figures show.
