ASIAN SEISMOLOGY COMMISSION HOLDS ITS 5th CONGRESS
Support A1+!“We want to save people’s lives by reduction of earthquake hazard”, Yerevan State University’s geology professor Garnik Simonyan said speaking at Asian Seismology Commission’s 5th congress opened Monday in Yerevan.
Participation in such events gives the opportunity to get familiar with international specialists and their experience, he said.
200 representatives of 51 countries took part in the four-day congress.
Asian Seismology Commission chair Sergey Balasanyan think evaluation of seismic hazard and its reduction should become an issue of top concern of the world governments.
The Commission was founded in 1996 as regional scientific organization. Previous four congresses have been held in China, India, Iran and Nepal.
