SYMBOL OF RUSSIAN-ARMENIAN FRIENDSHIP DESECRATED IN BUDENNOVSK
Support A1+!As reported by Yerkramas, the newspaper of the Armenians of South of Russia, vandals damaged a monument to the Armenians, who had founded the town of Budennovsk (Stavropol region of Russia). The opening ceremony of the complex ''For the Fathers, the Founders of the Town of Saint Cross'' took place on October 17, 2004. The complex consists of an 8-meter high arch, a Khachkar (cross-stone) and a stone composition. A bell calling the parish to a pray in the Armenian Church was placed under the arch, which bears ''1799-2004. Saint Cross (Surb Khach) inscription in the Russian and Armenian languages.
According to the experts, the incident may be both a consequence of the anti-Caucasian spirits and a dirty deed of Satanists.
Some hold the opinion that the vandals wished to tense the international dissention in the town, since the complex was perceived as a monument to the Russian-Armenian friendship.
