ARMEN AVETISYAN’S CASE HEARD TODAY

Today the Court of Original Jurisdiction of the Kentron and Nork Marash districts heard the suit brought against leader of the Armenian Aryan Union Armen Avetisyan. To remind, he is accused in accordance with the Article 226, part 2, item 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

He is accused of expressing scornful attitude towards other nationalities as well as outraging national minorities of Kurds and Jewish residing in Armenia.

7 witnesses were summonsed. Two of them - a reporter of Aravot daily and head of the Jewish community of Armenia Rimma Varzhapetyan - did not come.

Another witness, head of the yezid community of Armenia Aziz Tomoyan expressed regret over Armen Avetisyan's arrest. In his words there is no Kurdish community in Armenia and added that the accused was in good relations with the yezids residing in Armenia.

The trial will be continued on March 18.
