THOSE WHO WANT TO MEET DEMIRCHYAN ARE TERRIFIED

Today in the Goght village square the workers of the Garni police were gathered. The reason was the anticipated meeting of Stepan Demirchyan with the electors. Before the meeting at 5:00 p.m. there were about 150 people in the square, but at that hour only 15-20 were left. We managed to find out from those present that Manvel Andreasyan, chief of the police simply terrified people ordering them to go and work and claiming that there will be no meeting.

Let us also mention that the only shop of the village was also closed so that people would not come there with the excuse of buying something. The residents of the village informed us about it. They were even afraid to say their names, “This is a tyranny, my dear girl, they will simply arrest us don’t you know?” But these were the brave hearts of the village as the others followed the People’s Party delegates who had arrived at the village from the windows of their houses.

First it must be mentioned that the Garni police chief was in plain clothes which is a violation of the law on Police, and them he behaved rather boldly both with the Party delegates and with the journalists. When we informed them that he hinders the work of the journalists, he said that it is the journalists who hinder the work of the village resident.

The policemen who had blocked the square said they would not leave the place until the uninvited guest left. But instead of that Stepan Demirchyan, leader of the People's Party of Armenia, and Viktor Dallakyan, secretary of the Justice bloc arrived at the village as they had promised. The people gathered around them and informed that there were more than 1000 people most of which had left frightened by the police.

Demirchyan reminded that the worst thing is fear. He claimed that these methods will not save the authorities. Ad Viktor Dallakyan informed the residents that they criticize Robert Kocharyan and Serge Sargsyan severely, and they have not yet been arrested.

Dallakyan called the people not to be afraid, «Who is that humbug who terrified you? Tell him to come here and speak to me». The Garni police chief realized that the remark referred to him, and after the delegates with Stepan Demirchyan at the head had left, said, «Tell him he is a humbug». With this Manvel Andreasyan confirmed the claims of the resident of the village about the terror realized by him.
