123 PEOPLE DIED BECAUSE OF AZERI MINES
Support A1+!After the Karabakh war 394 people have suffered from the explosions of secret mines in the territory of Armenia. 271 of them have had injuries. For the last 24 months 14 people have suffered two of which are military men. 7-31 UDS is used for clearing an area of one square meter of mines.
This information was given by those responsible for the UN Development Program who summed up the results of the investigation of mines in Armenia. In the Mine-cleaning Humanitarian Center the UNDP Armenian office deputy permanent representative Alexander Avanesov, Coordinator Armen Grigoryan and the European Committee Armenian program responsible George Miller met the journalists.
The program has been realized since 2003; it costs more than 1.5 million Euros. And the main source of financing is the European Committee. George Miller informed that the European structure also realizes the program in Azerbaijan.
The investigations showed that the borderline near the Syunik and Tavoush regions is especially full of mines, and there are also dangerous areas in Gegharqounik, Ararat and Vayots Dzor regions.
