FADEY SARGSYAN APPOINTED ADVISOR OF PRIME MINISTER

The elections of the President of the RA National Academy of Science will take place in May. On April 12 the reports of the year 2005 will be represented during the general meeting of the NAS.

And the NAS ex president Fadey Sargsyan has been appointed advisor of the Prime Minister. Andranik Margaryan himself informed about it during the enlarged meeting of the NAS Presidium. «The NAS needs reforms but there will be no changes in this phase», the Prime Minister said. According to him, the new NAS President and the Presidium will solve the problem of reforms.

By the way, Fadey Sargsyan was very excited although he tried to hide it. The 82-year-old academician has been President of the NAS for 13 years. «Whoever is elected, I am ready to cooperate with him», he told «A1+». He also said he wants a young President to be elected, but it is impossible as according to the regulations the candidates for the post must be at least 65 years old.

By the way, we talked to Radik Martirosyan, the ex rector of the Yerevan State University, who is one of the candidates for the post of the NAS President. Asked the question what he thinks about his chances of being elected he answered, “As far as I understand, I am not the only candidate, so the chances are the same for all of us”.
