THE FESTIVAL IS GONE, BUT NOT THE RESULTS
Support A1+!For the last few years there is a mass celebration of the festival of Tsakhkazard in Armenia which unfortunately results in the accumulation of garbage in the streets. Today heаps of willow branches can be seen everywhere, especially near churches.
The Church does not have a position about this, as they cannot forbid the chopping of the willow branches and their sale. “Branches are cut every year. We cannot forbid it as it is not within our authority. The church can only bless them. Of course the church does not encourage the mass chopping of the trees, but it cannot forbid it either,” mentioned press representative of the Ararat Diocese Elza Manoukyan.
On the Tsakhkazard day everyone forgets the fact that mostly young branches are cut from the trees. And this may do irreparable harm to the trees.
