U.S. Government Provides Heating Equipment for Fire Stations in Armenia
Support A1+!The U.S. supports the development of professional emergency services in the Republic of Armenia. On February 27, the U.S. Mission celebrated the completion of a project to provide heating equipment to Armenian fire stations. This fire-house heating project, which was funded with $262,079 from the U.S. government and cost shared with five million AMD from the Armenian Rescue Service, has installed gas heating equipment in 48 fire stations throughout Armenia, covering the majority of the country. The total annual energy savings resulting from insulation and installation of energy efficient gas heaters at the 46 sites is estimated to reach 360 MWh, while the annual cost savings will amount to nearly $ 66,000.
During the ceremony, U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Anthony F. Godfrey remarked that the project would enhance the responsiveness of the nation’s fire stations in winter and improve the living conditions of the firefighters. He also thanked Armenian firefighters across the country for the public service they provided to their country.
The USAID-funded Energy Efficiency project has been implemented in Armenia since May 2001 under the management of Advanced Engineering Associates International (AEAI). More than 40 pilot projects have been implemented under this program in municipal, residential, industrial/commercial and agricultural sectors.
