MUNICIPALITY FORBIDS A1+
Support A1+!The Municipality of Yerevan City has forbidden “A1+” to organise tree planting. This is a mere breach of the RA Constitution and recurrent violation of rights.
It is noteworthy that the initiators intend to plant 16 trees symbolizing the 16th anniversary of the independence proclamation. The trees will be the first plants of Freedom Square.
The rejection is determined by the fact that “State Dance Ensemble” will give a concert in the National Academy of Opera and Ballet on April 2. It is due to mention that the municipality’s step is not stipulated by the acting Constitution; the initiators didn't ask for permission, they merely kept the municipality informed of the upcoming event. Therefore, the municipality had no right to forbid A1+. Secondly, the tree planting will take place in the territory adjacent Aram Khachatryan Philharmonic Concert Hall, at 5-6 p.m., whereas the concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
The president of A1+ informed us that the event will be held despite all obstacles, as the above-mentioned motivations are groundless. The staff will plant 16 trees, and the municipality is free to take the plants out.
