WHY DID HE LEAVE THEN?

The residents of Gyumri city do not have definite imagination as to whom they will give their votes during the upcoming presidential elections.

But they all point out that the return of the RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan has established more favorable conditions in the political field. “We have the chance to choose. Before Ter-Petrosyan’s nomination we have to give our votes to only one candidate. But the situation has altered, Ter-Petrosyan’s nomination will promote the ideological and intellectual fight and will make the candidates act better and consciously”, considers Gayane, a teacher.

However, the situation is a little bit complicated for the Gyumri youth, since as they say. “We have little idea of the past and remember little. I do not like what our parents tell about the past. But the TV channels provide only unilateral information, which misleads us”, says Gevorg, a student.

Sofia Gevorgyan, a teacher, considers that various powers should be involved in the political fight, including Levon Ter-Petrosyan. “If he comes to power by the nation’s choice, he will work better. The political situation in Armenia is very complicated now. I cannot decide whom to elect”, she said.

Tigran, an artist, considers that there is only one problem with the nomination of Levon Ter-Petrosyan. According to him, the nation remembers the years of darkness without electricity. “I wonder, whether Robert Kocharyan or someone else would act the same way as Ter-Petrosyan did. The nation should consider this as well. Levon Ter-Petrosyan was not a bad political actor. The world recognized Armenia during his officiate. I consider that his return to the political field is good”, he said.

Varduhi, a housewife says that she has listened to Ter-Petrosyan’s speech on GALA TV Channel and remembered the past: “Why is he returning? He became the president when the country was in a very difficult state, why did he leave? Let him stay and continue his work”.

Farmer Vardan is not interested in the elections at all. “I will not participate in the elections. I do not mind Ter-Petrrosyan’s return if the nation elect him”, says Vardan.
