CITIZEN vs. JOINT OWNERSHIP
Support A1+!The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Kentron and Nork Marash districts upheld the claim of Kentron’s inhabitant Armine Arakelian against a local joint ownership.
Arakelian had asked the joint ownership for the records and fiscal reports of the past four years. The joint ownership appealed and lost the claim in the Appellate Court.
During an interview with A1+ Armine Arakelian said she punctually pays fees to the joint ownership and wants to know where the money goes.
“As an ordinary citizen I have a right to know where the money I pay is spent. The joint ownership should give citizens information,” says Armine Arakelian.
Gor Hakobian, President of Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (IDHR) who represents citizens’ interests in court, notes that through this act their institution wants to promote civil society and set a precedent for other citizens.
”We want to show our fellow citizens that they can also protect their rights in court and win the case,” adds Gor Hakobian.
The joint ownership hasn’t submitted the documents requested by the resident yet.
The IDHR is going to get the documents through the Compulsory Executive Service.
