ARE ADVERTISEMENTS OVER THE LIMIT?
Support A1+!It turns out that the ongoing advertisements getting on the nerves of the public at large are not against the law. This is what head of the National Commission on Television and Radio Grigor Amalian stated in response to the letter sent by head of the NA committee on science, education, culture, youth and sports Armen Ashotian. What interested Ashotian was whether the amount and schedule of advertisements corresponds to the RA law on “Advertisements” and whether or not the amount of public broadcasts have corresponded to the law during the past five years.
Ashotian also asked whether the mandatory televised broadcast of the RA national anthem corresponds to the RA law on the “National Anthem” and whether program funding corresponds to the RA legislation requirements. In the course of the past three months the NCTR has not registered violations and hasn’t applied administrative fees.
We were surprised to hear Amalian’s response that they have conducted monitoring on the television station’s activities and have not found any exploitation of advertisements. “But everybody knows that the 5-7 minute advertisements that cut in every 20 minutes during a film are illegal,” said vice-president of the NA committee on science and education Naira Zohrabian,. According to her, the committee plans on making changes in the RA law on “Advertisements”.
In response to our question as to why deputies did not ask Amalian these questions during the presentation of the executive of the budget, Naira Zohrabian said that they are expecting Amalian to come to the upcoming budget discussions so that they can receive the answers to a series of questions. “There are a lot of problems and there is a serious need for reforms.”
