Cell-phone sales have gone down in Yerevan after New Year and have led to low prices.
“My income has decreased by 50 percent. I used to sell 9-12 phones a day before New Year, but now I sell five phones a day the most due to the fall of prices,” told “A1+” Edward Grigoryan who is a cell-phone salesman at the Central Post Office building.
According to him, the latest models are more or less in demand and standard cell-phones are not being sold. For example, the price for a standard “Nokia 6300” phone ranges from 47-51,000 drams, while it ranged from 57-62,000 drams in November last year.
Cell-phone stores and other individual salesmen no longer purchase used phones. In fact, there were many people near the post office building who were asking people to buy used phones for low prices.
“I can’t sell one “SAMSUNG 830” for a month now. I only used it for a month. It is sold for 50,000 drams at the store, but I sell it for 28,000 drams,” said trader Hamik.
