«EURO-2008» WITH A NEW FORMAT

During the following UEFA Congress the Executive Committee has decided upon the new order of organizong the Euro-2008 according to which in the preliminary phase the teams will be divided into 7 groups the first two places of which will automatically pass on to the final pahse. The organisers – Austria and Sqitzerland will joint this 14 teams. The preliminary phase in which Armenia will also participate will start in 2006 Fall.

Beofre this decision only the winner of the group had the right to pass on to the final phase, and the teams taking the second place met in the play-off.
