INTERESTING STRUGGLE IN THE SECOND STAGE

Sports

The second stage of the Armenian Football Championship ended, though two delayed meetings are to take place.

The Armenian Championships are conducted in a rather dull struggle. The priority of “Pyunik” over other teams has been obvious after the 2-nd stage and when the name of the champion is evident interest in the tournament reduces. However, the 2007 Championship is an exception in this regard and the tense struggle between “Pyunik” and “Ararat” for the first prize is in the process. Although “Pyunik” has more points than “Ararat”, the team has not managed to defeat its main opponent. These two teams have met four times during the current year and “Ararat” has won twice. The other two matches have ended in a tie. The meeting of “Pyunik” and “Ararat” (3:4) was the best in the 11-th tour of the Armenian Championship.

“Banants” and “Mika” concede “Ararat” and “Pyunik”. Both teams are unable to show stable games. Maybe they will manage in the second half of the Championship. “Gandzasar” team from Kapan was not playing well in the second stage but when Samvel Petrosyan headed the team, it gained scores and even defeated “Banants”.

“Gandzasar” intends to invite footballers from abroad and if the team goes on playing successfully, it may become one of the best teams in Armenia.

“Ulis” and “Kilikia” teams disappoint their fans; the teams continue to be defeated. Only young payers are involved in “Kilikia” and it’s hard to say what expectations the leaders of the club have from the young men who are always depressed by failures. Though experienced footballers play in “Ulis”, the team has not managed to play successfully yet.
