KRAMNIK’S FIRST FAILURE

Armenian Grand Master Levon Aronyan played a tie with Vishvanatan Anand at the 9th tour of the World Chess Championship in Mexico. To remind, at the first round Anand won over Aronyan.

Alexander Morozevich won over Vladimir Kramnik. This was Kramink’s first defeat at the current championship.

Presently the fixture table is led by Indian GM Anand with 6 points. Gelfand took the second place with 5 points.

World Champion Kramnik shares the 3rd-5th places with Leko and Grishchuk with 4.5 points each. Aronyan and Morozevich took the 6th place with 4 points each.

At the 10th tour Aronyan will compete with Alexander Grischuk. Provided Aronyan beats Grischuk, he will appear in the best trio.
