He won the blindfold and rapid games thus securing a winner’s title. World champion Viswanathan Anand lost to Vasili Ivanchuk of Ukraine 0.5:1.5.
After the 9th round Aronian is still in sole lead with 12.5 points. Kramink, Leko and Ivanchuk share the second spot with 10 points apiece.
