Sports

The Armenian youth team won four medals in the international judo competition that was held in the Dutch city of Vlatingen. The Armenian Judo Federation told “A1+” that 19 judoists participated in the Dutch competition.

Weighing in at 81 kilograms, Arman Soghomonyan was the most successful and won a gold medal.

Ishkhan Grigoryan, 66 kilograms, came close to winning the medal. He lost in the final round and won the silver. Arsen Tovmasyan at 55 kilograms and Samvel Khachatryan at 38 kilograms became bronze-medal winners.

The Armenian youth team will be on break for a while, while the national team will start getting ready for the 2nd round of the World Cup play-offs to be held in the Polish city of Warsaw on February 28. Five Armenian judoists will play in the play-offs.

It is still unclear as to whether Armenian female judoist Anush Hakobyan will play in the World Cup play-offs to be held at the same time. Hakobyan played well during the first round of the World Cup play-offs held in January in Sofia and Hakobyan must try her best during the upcoming games.
